ADCOCK FAMILY CHRISTMAS PARTY 2016
Sue
Newton of Lilesville, NC and
Rachel Myers of Wadesboro, NC worked together
for this years Adcock Family Christmas Party and Sue has sent out a few
emails and a postcard giving the details of the party. Rather than
reinvent the wheel, I am inserting a copy and paste of the last email she
sent out. I took over a hundred pixs and will add them on this
page as well.
SATURDAY, DECEMBER 3RD AT 1 PM AT MAC'S RESTAURANT IN MONROE, ON HWY
74 ACROSS FROM LOWE'S AND RIGHT BESIDE THE DOLLAR TREE. COMING FROM
WADESBORO IT'S ON THE LEFT. COMING FROM WEST OF MONROE IT IS ON THE
RIGHT.
1. Rose has gotten tote bags for each of the family siblings.
There is a card with your name stapled to the bag. If you have cards
or gifts of any kind that you want to give anyone... PUT IT INTO THE BAG
WITH THEIR NAME ON IT AND BE SURE TO HAVE IT CLEARLY IDENTIFIED AS BEING
FROM YOU, OTHER WISE IT CAN BE ASSUMED THAT ANYTHING IN THAT BAG CAME FROM
ROSE AND VONDALE. The bags will be set out in sibling age order
Hazel (Don) & David down to Jerry & Kathy. Hopefully, this will
eliminate a lot of confusion, save time and move the process along smoothly.
I know in years past, I have gotten home with gifts that I had no idea who
had given them and I felt badly that I could not thank them.
2. We WILL NOT place our orders until everyone has arrived and
the opening remarks have been made and the blessing given. Rachel has
worked diligently to create a day that will be memorable to all and
especially we hope to make an impression of family importance to the younger
generations. We want them to know family, to learn to share and care through
helping each other, we want them to learn to know that family can be fun, we
want them to know that family confronts, deals with and overcomes
challenges, that family loves unconditionally, and that family accepts all
members as they are and includes everyone in every way to strengthen family
ties.
3. Curt is experiencing severe spinal problems and will be undergoing
surgery on Jan 6th. He was to play for us tomorrow but will not be able to
attend. As you may or may not know, Curt has a 15 year old son that we
have never met. In recent months the Haigler family has been in contact with
him and he will be at the party tomorrow. Carolyn did not wish to
speak before the crowd as a whole but said she would introduce him
one-on-one as we arrive. This seemed to us to be something that could
be a bit overwhelming to a young teenager, meeting this crowd for the first
time. Rachel talked with Curt this morning and in his absence, he
asked her to allow Lynette to introduce his son and make whatever comments
she wished concerning this 'new to them' member of their family and now our
families as well.
4. Even though Curt will not be playing we still have a great
program. Alana has prepared a beautiful presentation of story and
songs. Mike & Toni will be reading the beautiful Christmas Story.
And.... Marli and Autumn may or may not have something to offer for our
entertainment. We just have to wait and see.
COME WEARING YOUR BIGGEST SMILES, BEST ATTITUDES, HEARTS FULL OF LOVE AND
LOTS OF CONVERSATION (not while someone is speaking or entertaining the
group), LAUGHTER AND THOUGHTS OF WHAT THE SEASON IS ALL ABOUT... LOVE &
FORGIVENESS.... THAT'S WHY CHRIST CAME TO OUR WORLD AND INTO OUR HEARTS.
We have the place from 1p-4p, so do not be in a great rush to leave without
having greeted and talked with everyone, just because the meal may be over
and program finished.... visiting is the last part of the program and you're
the players.
Thank you to everyone who has worked on this and who is contributing to it's
success. (We are thinking that it's about time for the generation next
in line behind us 'old folks' to start thinking about taking over the
planning, preparation and production of this event. All you need is
one great organizer and put your love into doing it as a group. You
could be awesome!!)
Love and Hugs,
Sue (for Rachel - no PC, no email, no text, no cell phone... what are we
going to do with her?)
PS: Please just reply 'OK' to this so that I will know that each family has
a member who got the information and will share it with any of their family
members who may be just like Rachel, no technology.
LET THE PARTY BEGIN
As soon as I got parked, I retrieved the ole Canon 35mm DSLR camera from the
car trunk and captured a pix of the outside of Mac's Restaurant. Once my bride,
myself, our daughter Lisa and Grandson Xander McKnight was inside, I
immediately started taking pixs of the interior and those family members
already present to create a pictorial story board of the event.

As per our instructions, once the majority of family arrived, Rachel
Myers gave
a welcome introduction and Mike Seals blessed the food we were about to receive.
Several tables were set with gift bags with family members names on them
and a smaller table was reserved for The Family Helping Family funds.
Once the welcome introduction and the prayer given to bless our
food, it didn't take too long to place our food and drink orders. The
waitresses were on the ball....once your order was placed and the cash
register got a chance to sing its Christmas jingle song, a placard for your order was given
to you for your table and the waitresses brought your food out in a very timely manner. As
evidenced from the menu posted earlier, there was a good selection to choose
from.
THE CHRISTMAS STORY BY TONI SEALS
FOOD IS SERVED
I placed an order for a BBQ plate and it certainly was good.
After I finished that BBQ plate, it was time to get the ole camera back
into action. I went around and hopefully, got a pix of everyone that
attended.
I got a pix of my bride aka Joyce Adcock Porter with a good grin going:
She is as beautiful as ever and the Joy and Love of my Life!
ENTERTAINMENT
Lita Harris had a group line up in a circle and each one picked up a
present from the table. She read a story and each time the word right
was used, the person handed the present to the person on their right; each
time the word left was used, the person handed off the present to the person
on their left until the story was ended and they kept the present.
ENTERTAINMENT CONTINUES
A couple of the young ladies, Autumn and Marli sang a Christmas song and did a dance and
jump rope routine.

LITA'S LINE DANCE
A few brave souls got up and did a mini-line dance number....not enough
cowboys and cowgirls in the crowd.....grin if you must!
The two family members that received financial gifts, thanked everyone for
their kind generosity and it was very heart felt. One thing about the
Adcock Family, they are tuned to needs of others within the family as well
as others and never
fail to give assistance when needed.
CHRISTMAS PARTY COMING TO AN END
After Brian Newton gave our closing prayer, everyone slowly left.
It was a great Christmas party and we certainly missed those that could
not attend due to medical conditions, etc. Speaking for myself and our
family, we had a wonderful time. The fellowship and warm loving
atmosphere of the event, our accommodations, food and excellent service
provided by Mac's staff was awesome.
I am going copy and paste a paragraph I have on my Christmas
Short Stories from 2013 which is still relevant today:
Web published by Bill aka Mickey Porter on 12-04-16.
"With all the commercialization of
our CHRISTMAS Holiday and so many
attempting to get on the Political Correctness
Band Wagon
of not wishing to offend anyone and to me, they have no backbone and don't
stand for anything that really matters and are mere puppets;
"Pull my little strings and I'll do anything."
Without Jesus Christ our Lord and
Savior, there would be no Christmas
since Christ is the Reason for the Season!
Whatever your personal Faith and Religion are, it is your choice and right;
I choose to be a Christian! I have a lighted
Star of David and a Cross
elevated about 40 feet above ground to give symbolic tribute to Christ and
the Christmas Season and several Angels to go along with the traditional
seasonal decor.
Laus Deo "Praise be to God."
I am so thankful that we live in a country where we can still freely
assemble and worship God through Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior, but the
past several decades, Christianity in America has suffered some major set
backs by those seeking to remove God from our Country. Hopefully,
America will be able to move forward again with the upcoming Political
establishment and I certainly do not care
who I offend by this statement!
One of my favorite sayings, "Two of the Greatest Ships that ever Sailed,
Friendship and Fellowship" of which we certainly did sail together at the
Adcock Family Christmas Party 2016.
God richly bless each and every one of you and a Merry Christmas to you
and your family!
LEAVING ON A
SPIRITUAL NOTE
If you do not know Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, please take this
moment to accept him by Faith into your Life, whereby Salvation will be
attained.
