I will be adding pixs of our son Bill Jr. who we called Billy when he
was a small boy and pixs of the Grand boys as well. He is now 47 years
old and has two sons himself; William McKnight Porter III is 21 and Samuel
Jacob Porter is 16. Time certainly does have a way of getting by
seemingly far too fast! Most of the pixs are from converted slides and
the format is all over the place, maybe it will not be too annoying....grin
if you must! There are pixs of Bill and his family through out this
website under various short stories, etc. Click on the thumbnails pixs

Bill doing some fly fishing on Blewett Falls Lake in front of our
favorite campsite aka
Porter's Point in 1981. Carolina Power and Light had pulled the lake
level down about 8 feet below normal, apparently working on the wood board
extension on top of the dam.

The below pix called Jake and the Pooping Possum taken May 2, 2002.
Bill and his family were home for a visit and some dogs killed a "possum" in
the back yard during the night, whereas the possum had pooped prior to his
death and Jake must have said "The Pooping Possum" a hundred times.
Will and Jake 2003.
Will with a nice days catch of trout destined for the ole frying pan!
Jake with a spike hair style.

Bill, Casey and Will at home during our visit with them.
Bill with his first deer harvest. Bill was home for a visit during
some of his Navy business/training on the East Coast, whereas we got a
chance to get some deer hunting in. Bill made a very long shot
with my Remington left-hand BDL .270 Winchester loaded with a 130 grain
Sierra GameKing boat tail jacketed soft point bullet ahead of 57 grains of
Dupont IMR 4831 powder with the bullet traveling about 3115 feet per second.
Bill had good shot placement on the doe with a lung putting the doe down for
the ten count. I was hunting at
the edge of one large field on the back side of Pines Davis land closer to
Pinkston River Road at the Anson County Airport before their runway
expansion and Bill was in the edge of the woods facing a large field off the
Airport Road which is now part of the runway expansion. By the time I
got to where Bill was at, he had already field dressed the doe and ready to
drag her out to the edge of the road for transport. The White Oak hanging tree in
the pix, I nick named Tom Dooley aka Dula from the Kingston Trio
Song....grin if you must! That White Oak tree with the boat winch has
hanged its share of deer over the decades!
Bill receiving his Chief Petty Officer rank. Bill retired from the
US Navy in 2008 as a Command Master Chief and is a defense contractor residing in
California. His main hobby is mountain bike riding. Check his
website at:

awesome videos, photography and trail reviews!

Porter Family:
Will 2008
Jake 2008
Jake is giving one of those Southern California Mr. Cool signs for sure! First
thing Jake said when I pulled out my regular low tech cell phone was,
"Grandpa, when are you going to get an IPhone." I had to grin
real big on that one since I have only made a couple test text
messages.....maybe I will break down and get a Smart Phone.....another grin
is in order! I usually run ten years or more behind technology until I
have to make the change. Pix taken in May 2014, Vista, CA.
