Our Christmas 2000 Holiday was broken down into three separate events.
The first, being the Christmas lights were up and running on December 9,
2000, whereas Pat and Johnny Hildreth had one of Santa Claus helpers aka
Buck Morton come by and talk to the kids finding out what they wanted for
Christmas. Johnny built a storage building and had a front porch on it
and it was the perfect place for Santa's helper to set up shop. The
second was The Porter family Christmas Eve Dinner. The third event was
lunch at Mary Lou and George Hodge's home in Lilesville, NC on Christmas Day.
SANTA CLAUS HELPER AT THE HILDRETHS
There were a good many kids that showed up for the event but I only took
a couple pixs.
Johnny and Pat had their place well lit up and below a few pixs:

I don't believe we had started the Burlington Street Christmas Block
Party yet. The reason I am guessing, is because the archived pixs
taken in December 2000 are just now being uploaded on October 12, 2016.
PORTER'S CHRISTMAS EVE DINNER
It is customary for the Porter family to have a Christmas Eve dinner at
our home inviting our family members and those attending this year were:
Laura, Keith, Travis and Trevor Huneycutt, Lisa Vanderburg, Rose and Vondale
Tucker, Wink and Rachel Myers, Bill and Ann Porter aka Mom and Pop, My bride
Joyce and yours truly Mickey Porter.
The evening menu consisted of:
deep fried turkey,
cornbread dressing,
collard greens,
sweet
potato soufflé, green bean casserole,
potato salad, homemade buttermilk lard
biscuits,
cornbread,
onion cheese pie,
deviled eggs, sweet potatoes with marshmallow

"beautimous" out loud?
After the meal, the Huneycutt Grandboys Travis Lee and Trevor Lane was

CHRISTMAS DAY LUNCH AT MARY LOU AND GEORGE HODGE HOME
We were invited to have lunch with Mary Lou and George Hodge at their
home in Lilesville, NC along with Keith, Laura, Travis and Trevor Huneycutt.
While Mary Lou Hodge was getting the lunch ready, she had a basket of
fresh biscuits and every so often Trevor Lane Huneycutt would go into the
basket and get a biscuit. Mary Lou must have got him out of the
biscuit basket four or five times before he finally accomplished what he sat
out to do.
My bride related to me that Trevor came up to her holding his hands
clasped together lifting them up to her as high as he could, opened them and
said to her, "I got you a bisker"
of which he never stopped going into the basket getting a biscuit out for
his Nanny until he delivered one.
We had a wonderful Christmas lunch at Mary Lou and George Hodge's home
and that was nearly sixteen (16) years ago.
Time waits for no one.

LEAVING ON A SPIRITUAL NOTE
I say this so many times, Two of the Greatest
Ships that ever Sailed, Friendship and Fellowship."
Family and Friends make Life so worth while!
I have posted the following in a couple other places on our Christmas
WebPages and it is true as ever.
With all the commercialization of our CHRISTMAS Holiday and so many
attempting to get on the Political Correctness Band Wagon of not
wishing to offend anyone and to me, they have no backbone and don't stand for
anything that really matters and mere puppets; "Pull my little strings and
I'll do anything." Without Jesus Christ our Lord and
Savior, there would be no Christmas since
Jesus is
the Reason for the Season! Whatever your personal
Faith and Religion are, it is your choice and right; I choose to be a
Christian! I have a lighted
Star of David and a
Cross elevated
about 40 feet above ground to give symbolic tribute to the Christmas Season and
several Angels to go along with the traditional seasonal decor.
Laus Deo "Praise be to God."
If you do not know Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, please take this
moment to accept him by Faith into your Life, whereby Salvation will be
attained.
