My bride got me into gear a little earlier than normal this Christmas
2012 season in getting our outside yard decor up. It took several days
of working a few hours here and there in between our trip to the local gym
Monday thru Friday along with other appointments, etc. Our youngest
daughter Lisa Dianne Gonzales helped my bride with the inside decor but we
have scaled back at least 25 to 50 percent on the decorations both inside
and outside and that comes along with the dates on our birth certificates
and other health issues. We both are thankful for each and every day
that the Lord allows and I am going to copy and paste something that I wrote
in one of my short stories from two
years ago which still sums up my view for our Christmas Holiday and season. With all the commercialization of our CHRISTMAS Holiday and so many
attempting to get on the Political Correctness Band Wagon of not
wishing to offend anyone and to me, they have no backbone and don't stand for
anything that really matters and mere puppets; "Pull my little strings and
I'll do anything." Without Jesus Christ our Lord and
Savior, there would be no Christmas since
Jesus is
the Reason for the Season AND ALL SEASONS! Whatever your personal
Faith and Religion are, it is your choice and right; I choose to be a
Christian! I have a lighted
Star of David and a
Cross elevated
about 40 feet above ground to give symbolic tribute to the Christmas Season and
several Angels to go along with the traditional seasonal decor.

that said, below are some pixs of the Porter Home Christmas Yard Decor; Click on the thumbnails for a larger

Above pix is what happens when you have consumed too much leaded coffee
in the course of a day and a slow camera shutter speed. No, I don't
smoke any herbs either..........grin if you must!
I will add a few additional pixs and the above pixs taken without the
benefit of flash. Before the next Christmas Holiday, the Lord willing
of course, I have to refurbish the Star of David and the Cross that I made
from welded EMT that are elevated 40 feet off the ground. I
used one of my personal manufactured tree climbing devices to install the
star and cross and made a special bracket for them to hang on and had a rope
that would allow to release them from their hanging bracket and lower to the
ground but the pine trees have grown to where it will be difficult to remove
them and will have to climb the entire distance to their hanging metal
brackets.
Below pixs taken on 12-18-12 of the Porter Family in Rockingham, NC at
the Pizza Inn. My bride never misses an opportunity to enjoy her all-time
favorite comfort food. She managed the Pizza Inn in Wadesboro, NC and
doesn't ever get
tired of Pizza Inn Pizza. This is the first Christmas season that we
have all the Porter kids together since Bill, Jr. went into the US Navy way
back when and has lived on the West Coast retiring from the US Navy in 2008.
A few pixs at the Porter Home on 12-19-12:
We normally have a Christmas Eve party at our home and it is great to
have a little one around again with all the excitement they generate
associated with the secular aspect of Santa Claus and the Christmas gifts,
etc. I remember very vividly as a child the anticipation on Christmas
Eve trying to stay awake and see Santa Claus with his reindeer and sleigh
delivering the Christmas presents with Santa coming down our chimney that
appeared to be way too small and wondering if I had been "nice"
enough.....grin if you must! Oh, the wonderful element of youth.
Below are pixs taken at our Christmas Eve party and we barely made a dent in
all the goodies that were prepared. After the "finger food" meal, we
exchanged gifts and I certainly did have fun watching the youngest grand boy
Xander McKnight Gonzales tear into his presents. Our oldest Grand son
Travis Lee Huneycutt and his younger brother Trevor Lane were present
arriving late since they had an earlier party to attend. It would have
been great to have the West Coast Grand Boys William McKnight Porter, III
and his brother Jacob Samuel Porter present and hope we can make it happen
in the near future. Pixs below:
Below pix of the Porter Kids l to r; Laura, Billy and Lisa that was made into a
Christmas card way back when. Time really flies by.
May God richly bless each and every one of you during this Christmas
season, New Year and beyond as well!
