CHRISTMAS 2018
Last Christmas 2017, I did not create a web page due to health issues,
however we did have our Christmas Eve dinner, of which I don't believe I
brought the camera out. This year, I didn't put
out any Christmas yard decor, but have gotten our Christmas tree
up in our living room. Our oldest Grandson,
Travis Lee Huneycutt came
by and decorated the Christmas tree for my
bride. My bride has health
issues as well and cannot stand for any length of time, whereby limiting what she can
do. I told her I would decorate the living room if she would
supervise, but she has "been under the weather"
of late so to speak. Nevertheless, we are thankful for each and every day that
God allows and for his many blessings. We give daily thanks and
praise to Him
through Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior.

ADCOCK FAMILY CHRISTMAS PARTY
My bride's family had their annual Christmas party this year at
Jonathan's Restaurant in Matthews, NC on
December 1, 2018. The food was ok, but I wasn't impressed with it,
whereas the cabbage had no seasonings or flavor, the steak and gravy was
what I call a production product. I believe the steak was a
pre-breaded steak patty with the gravy a plain white gravy, definitely not
with any steak flavor. The rice was more like the 10 minute quick fix
type of rice. However, the Mac n Cheese was very tasty and the best part of the
meal. Nevertheless, the meal was filling to say the least, but I
didn't eat the cabbage.
I did not take my camera with me and there were plenty of
Obamaphones aka cell phones there
taking pictures. Wanda Guion had her 35mm DSLR camera and posted some
beautiful pictures on Facebook, of which my bride showed them to me since I
do not have a Facebook account for personal
reasons.
There were plenty of fun and games for everyone and it was great to see the Adcock
extended family members again. It rained from the time we departed
Wadesboro, NC until we returned home in the late afternoon.
On a positive note, Jonathan's Restaurant had a large room ideal for
hosting parties which was more than adequate for the Adcock Klan!
At every opportunity, I enjoy posting one of my favorite sayings which
has true meaning to me, "Two of the Greatest
Ships that ever Sailed, Friendship and Fellowship."
My bride with her medical issues does not normally go out when it is
raining or when very humid. Everything went well until we were departing the
restaurant. When she was within a few feet of the car, her right knee
gave out on her and it took four of us to keep her partially supported upright until
we could get a chair underneath her. With the aid of another chair,
she was able to slide onto the car seat. She didn't have any trouble
with her right knee when we got back home and I helped her up the front
steps into our home.
We both had medical appointments the following Monday 12-03-18 at the
Lincoln Family Medicine in Ansonville, NC and
Dr. Lincoln gave my bride a shot in her right knee which has helped her mobility
issue tremendously. Dr. Lincoln explained, that eventually surgery
would probably be required and/or a knee replacement. Until then, we
will take it day by day, the Lord willing of course!
With all the commercialization of our CHRISTMAS Holiday and so many
attempting to get on the Political Correctness
Band Wagon of not
wishing to offend anyone and to me, they have no backbone and don't stand for
anything that really matters and are mere puppets;
"Pull my little strings and
I'll do anything." Without Jesus Christ our Lord and
Savior, there would be no Christmas since
Jesus is
the Reason for the Season! Jesus is the reason for
each and every season! Whatever your personal
Faith and Religion are, it is your choice and right; I choose to be a
Christian! I have a lighted
Star of David and a
Cross elevated
about 40 feet above ground to give symbolic tribute to Christ and the Christmas Season and
several Angels to go along with the traditional seasonal decor.
Laus Deo "Praise be to God."
The above is a copy and paste from our
Christmas 2016 web page with some updates. Our star of
David tree
became diseased and had to be cut down. Our lighted cross became
inoperative and it is too large a risk to try and repair it, (climbing the
tree) whereas we have
many wonderful memories of them during the Christmas Holidays and the many
folks that drove by, enjoyed them as well. We
certainly have to adapt to changing conditions and times, but keeping Jesus
Christ our Lord and Savior first and foremost in our daily lives and give
God the Praise, Honor and Glory in all things through Jesus Christ our Lord
and Savior!
LINDA DRIGGERS CAME BY FOR A VISIT
One of our friends Linda Driggers of Cheraw, SC retired from the North
Carolina Department of Public Safety, came by for a visit on 12-13-18
bringing gifts. We had a good visit and I gave her a Tee Shirt from
IN-N-OUT BURGER of Vista, CA I purchased back in May of this year while
my bride and myself were visiting
with our Son
William, Jr. and his family.
Below are pixs I took today 12-15-18 of the gifts:
The gift basket was given to my bride.
Linda gave me the above and has no respect for us deer hunters......grin
if you must! I certainly did get a good grin out of this one and below
a pair of socks also:
Now that is more like it; with the scope crosshairs centered on ole Mossy
Horns destined for the freezer rendering some
"beautimous"
venison steak and gravy!
I didn't take a pix of Linda during the visit and she was heading toward
Durham, NC for a few days to visit a friend if my memory is correct. I gave her a call and she is going
to send me a pix for this web page.
Below are a couple of
pixs of the Tee Shirt I got for Linda while visiting with our son and his
family in Vista, CA.
CHRISTMAS EVE PARTY
Our immediate family met at our home at about 6:00 P.M. to have a finger
food party and later open presents. Those present were: My bride
aka Joyce, Laura, Lisa, Travis, Trevor, Xander, Lily, Shane Hough and yours
truly Bill aka Mickey Porter.
Our Christmas inside decor has downsized the past 12 years due to my bride's
health issues that prevents her from decorating like she use
to. Nevertheless, there was enough decor to keep the Christmas
spirit alive and well.
Our oldest daughter Laura asked me at our Thanksgiving get together, did I
have enough bottled water as evidenced by the cases stacked against the back
wall.
My bride's home made pine cone Christmas tree is still going after many
years of usage.
FINGER FOOD
The main course of the finger food party was sliders made from sliced
Hawaiian sweet rolls with sliced ham, tomatoes, lettuce, cheese and your
choice of condiments; e.g., Duke's mayonnaise, Dijon mustard and/or Ranch
dressing. There was a hot sausage dip, peanut butter apple dip,
sausage balls, ham and biscuits, party mix, sliced apples, snow balls, chips and
scoops, etc.
VITTLE TIME
After a prayer was given to God through Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior for
allowing us another year together, the food was blessed and it didn't take
long before the plates were loaded up.
TIME TO OPEN PRESENTS
Click on below thumbnail pixs for a larger screen view:
My bride asked for a portable DVD player and I got her one with a 14 inch
screen and remote control. I asked for an updated Food Saver since my
current one is on its last leg, but plan to
"milk it" as long as I can before breaking out the
new model. I purchased myself a Presto 23 quart pressure canner and
that certainly does spell out total domestication in my humble opinion.
I have a small Presto pressure cooker and a much larger Mirro pressure canner, of
which the Mirro canner rarely gets used anymore since my bride used it way
back when for canning vegetables, etc. I wanted a larger model to can
venison
that would process seven (7) quart jars at one time.
It was great to see the two youngest Grand kids tear into their gifts with
all the excitement and anticipation of what is inside the packages.
Small children is what makes Christmas, which is secondary to the birth of
Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior!
CHRISTMAS DAY AT LISA'S HOME
We visited with our youngest Daughter Lisa Gonzales and she had breakfast
prepared for us when we arrived sometime around 7:30 A.M. Xander, Lily
and Lisa had been up very early as is normal on a Christmas morning when you
have kids wanting to see what Santa Claus had left them. We all have
been there and done that......grin if you must!
Lisa had a breakfast casserole prepared for us and the recipe is hyperlinked
here and it
was very good!
Below a few pixs and toys were everywhere:
Lily and Xander were non stop playing with toys.
Christmas is a time when young kids are all excited believing in Santa Claus
and hoping to receive what was on their wish list and if they have been good
or bad. I vividly remember our three kids during the Christmas of
years gone by and my own memories as a kid, of which those memories are a treasure for sure. I have many
of those early pixs of our kids on file taken back in the Polaroid and film media camera days and
later converted them to digital media. I have a good portion of
them posted on this website under the short story
memories from the
past with sub pages for each family member on the main memories
from the past main page.
In summation, we had a great
Christmas get together and I am thankful for our family and each and every
day that God allows us.
To quote again one of my favorite sayings, "Two of the Greatest
Ships that ever Sailed, Friendship and Fellowship."
God bless each and every one of you and have a
prosperous, healthy and Happy New Year keeping God the main focus and priority in
your lives remembering how much God loves us: John 3:16
"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten son, that
whosoever believeth in Him, should not perish, but have everlasting life!"
