Crab Legs

CRAB LEGS

INGREDIENTS:

1 1/2 TO 2 lbs. frozen crab legs (already pre-cooked)
Melted butter - 1/4 pound
1/2 teaspoon minced garlic (optional) - added to the melted butter
Lemon wedges (optional)

DIRECTIONS:

Place an 8 quart steamer pot or larger with a couple inches of water in the bottom. Bring to a rolling boil. Place frozen crab legs into steamer basket and steam for 8 to 10 minutes. Remove from steamer basket and allow to cool a few minutes. Break crab legs at the joint and break in the middle of each section rocking the shell back and forth and delicately pulling the crab from the shell. To serve, dip into melted butter and enjoy.

YIELD: 2 servings depending on quantity of sides.

Serve the crab meat with your favorite sides. Asparagus and steamed corn on the cob goes very well with the crab meat

Close up of crab meat pulled from the legs. The easiest way to get the meat from the legs; separate the crab legs at the joints and then crack the front and back middle of the leg with your fingers, then the sides. Gently rock the crab leg back and forth and the crab meat will easily pull from the shell. These crab legs were tough and had to use the corner of our work station/island to crack the shells using downward pressure with the hands.

Above crab legs steamed on 06-27-2026, whereas my bride and myself enjoyed them which were outstanding.
