HAM AND CHEESE STROMBOLI
INGREDIENTS:
1/2 pound thinly sliced deli ham
3 ounces sliced pepperoni
1/2 pound sliced mozzarella cheese
1/2 pound sliced sharp cheddar cheese
1/4 cup marinara sauce (optional)
1 medium green bell pepper, thinly sliced into rings
1 medium red bell pepper, thinly sliced into rings
1 medium red onion, thinly sliced and separated into rings
1/8 teaspoon freshly ground black peppercorns -
(Tellicherry)
1/8 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon Italian seasoning
1 egg, lightly beaten
1
Pillsbury Pizza Crust Classic refrigerated dough
Preheat oven to 400 degrees F. Onto a large greased baking sheet, roll
out pizza dough into rectangle about 15 x 12 inches using your fingers.
Spread a thin layer of marinara sauce over dough within 1 inch of the edges.
Add slices of cheddar cheese, deli ham, green bell pepper, red onion, red
bell pepper, pepperoni and mozzarella cheese. Sprinkle Italian
seasoning, black pepper and garlic powder on top. Brush the 1 inch
border of the pizza dough with egg wash. Fold over the pizza dough on
the long side toward you and then the ends. Press the edges together
and lightly crimp with your fingers. Brush egg wash over the entire
top and cut several slits in top to allow steam to escape. Place in a 400 degree F. oven for 20 minutes until golden brown on top.
Remove from oven and let rest for 10 minutes before cutting and serving. Serve with a
marinara dipping sauce or sauce of your choice.
YIELD: 8 slices about 2 inches wide

Above Ham and Cheese Stromboli baked on 07-26-16 and was
"off the chain good." This
version has plenty of veggies in there too along with the wonderful
pepperoni. It probably would be stellar to add some sliced mushrooms
to make it a monster Stromboli, but I didn't find any internet recipes that
used mushrooms but you can add whatever you want since you are the
architect. Basically, all I did was cut up the veggies and my bride
did the rest starting with getting the pizza dough shaped and layering the
ingredients, etc.
This is definitely a meal within itself and didn't need any sides to go
with it.
