OVER DUE MEMORIALThe following is a
transcript from Rachel Myers, whereas Bill aka Mickey Porter will be adding
pictures and notes relevant to document the event. Quote Rachel: "On June 16, 2015 the Adcock
Family gathered at the Hillbilly BBQ Restaurant in Lowell, NC for a most
unusual purpose. A couple blocks from the restaurant is the Lowell
Cemetery where some of our kin are buried. Within the grave plot was
the graves of two infant babies, a boy and a girl that had been born to
Henry and Nellie Adcock. One was still born and the other was
premature. All these years, they had never been named or had a head
stone for a memorial. On this day things changed. The family
after looking over names submitted by family members, the names were
selected as follows: Edgar Jenkins Adcock for the boy and Elizabeth Beatrice
Adcock for the girl. Those names were chosen from Nellie's and Henry's
side of the family.
The youngest child of the Henry and Nellie Adcock marriage, Jerry Adcock
felt strongly about this situation and set out to correct it. Jerry
researched to get the correct dates, ordered the stones and then the rest of
the family helped by donating money to pay for it.
After lunch, several family members spoke about the circumstances under
which this had happened, included were: Janet, Rosa and Rachel.
Then Frankie and Kathy read an inspirational reading." Below are pixs

The following was read by Frankie and Kathy:
INSPIRATIONAL MOMENTS
I asked for Strength...And God gave me Difficulties to make me
strong.
I asked for Wisdom...And God gave me Problems to solve.
I asked for Prosperity...And God gave me Brain and Brawn to
work.
I asked for Love...And God gave me Troubled People to help.
I asked for Favors...And God gave me Opportunities.
I received nothing I wanted...I received everything I needed.
"After the meal, we drove to the Lowell Cemetery and placed the memorial
stones for Edgar Jenkins Adcock and Elizabeth Beatrice Adcock. Jerry
had brought post hole diggers, a shovel, etc., and he was in charge of
completing this task. Henry and Nellie had a total of fifteen (15)
children, raised thirteen (13) of them and have only lost two to death in
these 83 years.
Jerry is the youngest and is now 65 years old, so we realize we are
getting to be an old family, blessed by God every day.
There is strength
in numbers and we have a large, strong and loving family. Let us
strive every day to keep it this way" Rachel Myers.
Below are pixs that
Bill aka Mickey Porter took at the cemetery of which the temperature was 100
degrees, however there was plenty of shade and a slight breeze blowing,
whereas it didn't seem that hot. Click on thumbnail pixs for a larger

In conclusion, the Adcock family as a whole, tends to pull together
and that was especially the case for this long over due memorial for the
Henry and Nellie Adcock infants. Jerry did a fantastic job getting
things organized and his plan of action was implemented on June 16, 2015.
As I
say many, many times, "Two of the Greatest Ships
that ever Sailed; Friendship and Fellowship" and without
acknowledging that God is our Creator and accepting his son Jesus Christ as
our Lord and Savior who grants us Salvation and Eternal Life through Him,
Life really doesn't have complete meaning and purpose, only an existence!
