PASTOR APPRECIATION DAY
The Wadesboro Church of God had our Pastor Appreciation Day on April 30,
2017 to give recognition to Pastor Sam Abee and his family. On the
agenda was a covered dish luncheon after our morning Worship Service.
OUTSIDE CHURCH PIXS
Pastor Abee contacted Bishop Ernest E. Bowes, Pastor of the
South
Lenoir Church of God, Lenoir, NC to be our guest speaker, of which he agreed.
ADULT SUNDAY SCHOOL CLASS
Prior to our morning Worship Service, I got several pixs taken while Brother Bruce High
was teaching the Adult Sunday school class.

special occasion and gave a wonderful testimony.
MORNING WORSHIP SERVICE
After the buzzer rang for the morning Sunday school classes to dismiss and assemble
into the Church sanctuary, Brother Wayne Kelly, Superintend took over for a
while.
The choir was led by Brother Jerry McGrady with two of Pastor Sam Abee's
favorite songs, Come and Dine and He Abides,
which helped generate an atmosphere
conducive for the Holy Spirit to move in our midst.
Brother Bruce High also sang an inspirational song as well.
PASTOR APPRECIATION RECOGNITION
After our morning offering was received, Brother Sam Abee and his wife
Joanne had a flower pinned to them by Sister Natalie Williams and Sister Glenda
Goodwin. Afterwards, Kevin McGrady presented Pastor Abee with a
monetary gift for his service to our Church. Pixs below:

PASTOR ABEE INTRODUCES OUR GUEST SPEAKER
BISHOP ERNEST E. BOWES BELOW
Bishop Bowes gave a Spirit filled sermon concerning the power of
Grace with scripture reading from
Romans 16:
24-27 and what Grace can do in our
lives as we serve Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior. After the message
was given, those that needed prayer came to the alter to seek strength,
healing and give praise to our Lord. Speaking for myself personally, I
definitely was touched and uplifted. Our Lord has a way of keeping us
humble, if we will accept him and allow his Holy Word and Spirit to dwell within our heart.
Heart mentioned above, is not the physical blood pumping organ in our
body, but is the seat of our intellect, affections and passions, as of love,
joy, grief, enmity, courage, pleasure, understanding, conscience, strength;
power of producing; vigor; fertility just to mention a few characteristic of
our spiritual heart!
Micah 6:8 “He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and
what doth the LORD require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and
to walk humbly with thy God?”
FELLOWSHIP HALL AND COVERED DISH LUNCH
At the conclusion of our Worship Service, Brother Abee gave a prayer to bless
our food. We then, made our way to the
fellowship hall and there was plenty of food waiting for us.

The friendship and fellowship along with all the excellent food was totally
outstanding and as I like to say, "Off the chain
good." Two of the Greatest
Ships that ever sailed, Friendship and
Fellowship!
IN CLOSING
Going back through my
"minds eye", The Wadesboro Church of God has been fortune enough
to have some great "Men of God" who presented the Word of God to us. I
can say that Brother Abee is at the top in my humble opinion as to his
dedication to God and his calling to preach the
entire Word
of God to us. A few of those Pastors that come to mind that have gone
on to be with our Lord; e.g., Brother Fields, Brother Reeder, Brother
Gasaway,
Brother Lewis, etc. There are a number that are still alive
today that also left a lasting impression on
me. A couple to mention; Dr. George E. Vorrhis and
Avon Craven.
My
Grandma "Della" Coley left the most lasting
impression upon my life and it seems like only yesterday when I visited her
in the hospital hours before she went to meet our Lord and Savior! I
hope to never forget our last words. We talked about many things
and she told me how much she loved me and I did the same. My last
words to Grandma at the hospital were, “I’ll see you in the morning”
and she replied,
“I hope so Son.” It will
have to be the
Resurrection
morning, because she died in her sleep on October 19, 1974!
All the original Charter Members of the Wadesboro
Church of God since its beginning on February 22, 1926 as the
Independent Holiness
Church and later became the Church of God on February 9, 1936 have gone
on to be with our Lord. The majority of those early Church members
that I personally remember as a small boy who were
pillars in the Church,
have too gone. "Time waits for no
one." I am thankful that God's
Grace and Mercy has allowed me to "re-dedicate" my life to him.
My Mom, Ann Porter (deceased) sang two of my
favorite Inspirational songs,
Pearly White City recorded in 1998 at
Sister Mary Jane Martins funeral and
I
Cannot Fail The Lord which was part of her testimony in serving our Lord
Jesus Christ with her singing. Those two songs were her most
requested ones. I will see if I can locate a recording of,
I
Cannot Fail The Lord. Our Lord Jesus Christ will soon
return!
