SNOW 2022
We had our first "good" snow yesterday evening late and throughout the
night with an accumulation of around 4 inches. The weather prognosticators called it about right and
glad we did not get any serious ice/sleet.I am certainly thankful we
did not have the 22 inches of snow accumulation we did back on or about
January 24, 2000, of which I have that
Blizzard 2000 hyperlinked.
My favorite type of snow is one that comes in the morning and melted
away by the late afternoon. I still have negative mental images of
shoveling, digging snow and ice from our driveway and up to the top of hill in
order to be able to get to work with the NC Department of Correction.
I slipped and fell several times while doing the shoveling and digging
the snow and ice which formed those not so good mental images! The Town of Wadesboro
back then did not scrape and/or treat our road to the dead
end where we live, but stopped at the top of the hill. The NCDOC
didn't care how dangerous it was for you to get to work, all they were
needing was a body at work and I can understand that from a management
viewpoint..........grin if you must. Those
snow/ice digging days
terminated with
my retirement in March 2012 and thanks
to our Lord for allowing me to endure those thirty-three (33) years of
employment!
It is my usual and customary writing aka
modus operandi to get on a
"rabbit trail" aka
"side tracked" which I just
did and now back to this short story!
The following morning, I got the antiquated
Canon 30D 35MM DSLR camera
out and took a few pixs, of which I will post below:
PIXS TAKEN FROM THE DINNING ROOM/DECK
You can see the ridge line in the above pix which use to be part of
the ole W. B. Moore Estate land being 134 acres +- and borders our property on
two sides; West and North, which now belongs to Alan Baucom Enterprises of Monroe,
NC in some type
of farming coop.
PIXS TAKEN OUTSIDE
In the below pix, you can see the elevation/incline of our road to the
top of the hill.
I noticed while taking the pixs, I saw a fresh set of tracks
belonging to a Cottontail Rabbit in the front yard that went under the
wheelchair ramp and also a set of deer tracks that crossed the road
above our water main cut-off.
I went outside an hour or two later and to my surprise, The Town of
Wadesboro had scraped and/or applied some type of sand/slag mixture to
the entire road which will allow myself to get to the main road (White
Store Road.)
During the last storm prior to this one, we lost power for about two
hours and our emergency generator was brought on line. No power
outage on this snow storm as of yet!
OUR 54TH WEDDING ANNIVERSARY
Today is my bride and my self's fifty-four (54) wedding anniversary
and had scheduled a noon meal with the Gonzales family; Lisa, Xander and
Miss Lily and cancelled it, but after seeing the road had been cleared,
rescheduled it for 2 PM. I plan to let Bo Jangles do the cooking
today..........another grin is in order.
I will no doubt take a few pixs of the Gonzales family and post them
later.

UPDATE: I got busy playing with Miss Lily; e.g., tea
party, hide and seek, tag, etc. and forgot to take any additional
pixs. We all had a wonderful time and had KFC instead of
Bo Jangles since they were closed due to the snow/ice.
LEAF BLOWER & ACCIDENT
Before the Gonzales family arrived, I used the leaf blower to get
snow off the wheelchair ramp, but it was taking too long and got a stiff
broom out and finished the job. When finished, I placed the leaf
blower on a bench on the front porch and later in the afternoon decided to put
in back in its regular storage place. Instead of taking the leaf
blower off the porch and using the wheelchair ramp, I took a short cut
which was a serious safety violation.
Watch this
video captured via our carport security
camera and you will see what I am
talking about.
I am thankful to our Lord Jesus Christ that nothing was broken other than
my pride. When you violate safety and common sense, an accident is
waiting to happen!
Murphy's Law never sleeps.
I like to post at every opportunity, "Two
of the Greatest Ships that ever Sailed, Friendship and Fellowship"
and we certainly had good prevailing winds today. Family and
friends makes life worthwhile and being in the center of God's will,
prepares us for the next life everlasting!
You are either
saved or
lost!

WAITING FOR MORE SNOW/ICE
Below is pix taken on 01-28-2022 of a small patch of snow/ice waiting
for more snow to return:
Country folks use to say, "If snow lays
on the ground for a week, it is waiting on more snow."
I remember back in March 1960, here in Wadesboro, NC, it snowed
three (3) Wednesdays in a row!

MORE SNOW ARRIVED
The "ole folks" called
this one right, whereas it snowed during the early morning hours of
01-29-2022 leaving an inch or two of snow at our home.
I took a screen shot from our Arlo security camera that monitors the
drive way to the road and here it is:
The sand/slag mixture from last Saturday did a good job of not having
any frozen stuff on our road.
Here is a
video link from the same driveway
security camera of a dog that came through checking on things.
GOT THE OLE CANON 30D DSLR CAMERA OUT
I went outside and took a few pixs to add to this page.
The sand/slag mixture is still working that was applied on
01-22-2022.
The snow was sticking to the leaves and trees more than the snow/ice
of 01-22-2022.
I told one of my friend, this mail box tree stand is for hunters that
are afraid of height...........grin if you must!
