JERRY NEAL ADCOCK BOOK SIGNINGThe
Hampton B. Allen Library,
Wadesboro, NC hosted a book signing on
02-15-16 at 12 Noon by Author Jerry Neal Adcock,
WHS
Class of 1968 residing in Monroe, NC with his lovely bride Kathy. Donnie Lewis of the Hampton
B. Allen Library called the group to order and had Rachel Myers introduce
Jerry Adcock who is her younger brother.
Above pix of Donnie Lewis with a good grin going and below is Rachel
Myers:
I have known Jerry since 1957 when the
Adcock family moved from Belmont, NC and
certainly glad they did because I spotted my bride to be
"Joyce"
the moment they entered The Wadesboro Church of God and still remember the
color of the dress she had on, long braided pig tails and dark complexion,
etc......Ok, I know I am
getting side tracked but I do that all the time and got a couple extra heart
beats in the process.....grin if you must!
After Rachel's introduction, Jerry gave a most intellectual talk about
his book titled,
The Suns of August which is fictional.
Below is a synopsis of the book which is available for purchase on line from
Amazon, and as
a download to Kindle as well.
"There's a secret between them so dreaded that they are not allowed to
know it themselves. They grow to manhood overshadowed by this great
secret, one so great they are made by it, yet never suspect its existence
until a series of events set off by an accidental death set them on separate
roads to manhood and discovery of the truth. One will succeed, the
other fail while one overcomes and the other is consumed. One will
heal, one will murder. In the end when all is revealed and the story
seems to have run its course the real climax occurs in a way that elevates
the whole tale to a whole new level of meaning. The reader will be
changed for having read it."
Above pix of Jerry and his son
Dean with a copy of his book. Below
is a close up of the book:
My bride and Jerry's immediate family were presented a copy of his book
back in November at the annual
Sister's Retreat 2015 in Hayesville, NC.
My bride has read the 646 page book and she could barely put it down until
she finished reading it.
COVERED DISH LUNCHEON
After Jerry's outstanding presentation about his book, there was a
covered dish luncheon with Wink Myers giving
grace and the food was "off the
chain good."

BOOK SIGNING AFTER PRESENTATION AND LUNCHEON
After that wonderful luncheon, Jerry got down to business signing his
books and did see some folding money and checks changing hands. Jerry
brought thirty (30) copies of his book and I believe there were only
six (6) copies of the book left. "A
successful book signing is when you show up, your books are there, you have
a place to sit and you sell just one book." Therefore,
Jerry's book signing was far more than a success since there were many friends,
family members, fellow employees, former band director and a US Air Force buddy present that
was in boot camp with him at
Lackland Air Force Base in Texas.
There were others present that had already purchased his book and got theirs
signed as well.

In closing, the weather was not the most conducive to be out and about
since the area did have some sleet and rain which put a damper on many that
would have come out for Jerry's book signing. Speaking for myself and
others, we had a wonderful time. There were at least twenty-eight (28)
that were present for the book signing according to one count.
A special Thank You to the
Hampton B. Library staff for their work in getting everything set-up for the
event which was greatly appreciated by all that attended the event and a
special Thank You for
those that prepared and brought the delicious food items.
I would like to close with one of my favorite sayings,
"Two of the Greatest Ships that ever sailed,
Friendship and Fellowship" and without those two and of
course the knowledge and acceptance of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior, Life
would certainly have no truthful meaning and merely an existence.
Also, thinking of one my departed friends
Bill Escott
of Polkton, NC who stated the following many times,
"Yesterday is History, Today is a Gift and Tomorrow is a Mystery."
God bless each and everyone of you!
