FRENCH TOAST

INGREDIENTS:

4 eggs
1 cup half and half
1/3 cup all-purpose flour
1/3 cup sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
6 slices thick bread (your choice)
3 tablespoons butter
Powdered sugar
Butter
Maple syrup

Mix together the eggs, half and half, flour, sugar, vanilla, nutmeg, salt and cinnamon in a pie pan or large mixing bowl.   Heat 1 tablespoon of butter in a large skillet, or griddle over medium heat.   Dip each slice of bread into the batter for 30 seconds on each side.  Allow excess batter to drain from bread and place in skillet.  Cook each slice about 2 minutes per side until each side is golden brown.  Add additional butter as needed to cook all of the slices.  To serve, place on plate, dust with powdered sugar and top with butter and maple syrup.

YIELD:  6 individual servings
