HENRY ADCOCK'S 80TH BIRTHDAY PARTY

While sorting through one of the book storage shelves drawers in my basement "man cave", I went through photographs taken several decades back and located prints that were taken at Henry Adcock's 80th birthday party.  Henry was born on December 24, 1909 and died on November 19, 1997 and have many pixs of him on a short story page titled, Adcock Family Images.

Back then, I was using a Nikon F2AS 35mm camera and the flash was too small for getting excellent pictures inside, depending on the light source and size of the room, etc.  I scanned the photos and saved them as a .jpeg and a .tiff format and resized them to .jpg for web publishing here.

The birthday party was held at the Wadesboro Church of God fellowship hall and if the party was held on his actual birthday, it would have been a Sunday December 24, 1989.  There is no file ID on the photographs as to a date.

I asked my Bride, Joyce Adcock Porter if she did a cake for him and she could not remember.  I didn't take a photo of a birthday cake and there was no doubt one there.

Brother Henry, looks like a deer that has seen the head lights of an oncoming vehicle during a dark night.....grin if you must!  Rachel Myers to his left and Jerry Adcock and Kimberly Newton Wilkerson in the background and with a partial head shot of Henrys brother, James Adcock.

Both Grace and James Adcock to Henrys left are deceased along with George Clark in the background behind the lady with the red dress on which is Sue Adcock Newton.

Pix of my Pop above left (deceased) and my Bride aka Joyce Adcock Porter at the next table.  She was and is a "baby doll."

Henry and Grace Adcock.  Henry is "chowing down" on some groceries there!

In closing, "time waits for no one" and it seems like only yesterday those photographs were taken.  The Porter family makes it a point to tell one another we love and appreciate them, because life is so short and moves at an accelerated pace the older we get.  Even though, time and speed are of a constant duration, we live in a very dynamic and changing world and we need to live each day the best that we can, because "Tomorrow is Promised to No One."   I like to quote a favorite saying of one of my departed friends Bill Escott, "Yesterday is History, Today is a Gift and Tomorrow is a Mystery."

I don't remember anything is particular that jumps right out at me about the party, but anytime you get the Adcock family together around some good home cooked food, it is definitely a winner.  I miss Henry and Sister Nellie very much, along with others that have passed away, but we can have the assurance that we will see them again when we possess our Glorified Bodies in Heaven and come back to this earth at the Second Coming of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior.  This is dependent upon our acceptance of Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior and keeping God's Holy Word with the help of His Holy Spirit.
