THANKSGIVING 2007 DINNER AKA LUNCHWhile
doing some late Spring cleaning in my basement
"Man Cave", more like getting close to Fall time 08-14-17, I
located a CD which had a few archived pixs taken of a Thanksgiving dinner on
11-22-07 held at Laura Porter's place in Ellerbe, NC.
I remember taking my gas burner/stand and
turkey pot along with a couple gallons of
vegetable oil, turkey and condiments necessary to deep fry the turkey.
Rachel and Wink Myers attended and I am sure Rachel prepared some beautimous
collard greens and/or other veggies, of which she definitely knows how to
season food.
Laura's friend, Robert Hough was present along with her two sons, Travis
and Trevor Huneycutt.
My Mom, Ann Porter also attended, but was very sad since
Pop passed away
on August 10, 2007. I sure do miss both of them.
Mom passed away
on May 1, 2011 and time waits for no one!
I don't remember too much of the details since that was going on ten (10)
years ago, therefore the pictures will have to speak for themselves.
WATCHING THE TURKEY DEEP FRY
Robert Hough and myself were in charge of deep frying the turkey.
Robert is using a metal tipped pole to keep the turkey submerged during
the last five minutes, since the turkey will want to float
pretty high out of the oil when it is within about five minutes of being
fully cooked.
Above deep fried Butterball brand turkey, cooling down and ready to so
some carving. That is one "beautimous" looking deep fried turkey and
tasted as good as it looked.
Wink Myers working on the deep fried turkey carcass after the carving was
done by yours truly, Bill aka Mickey Porter. There was plenty of small
tasty tidbits flavored with the cayenne pepper and salt.
GETTING THE TABLE SET
Robert Hough has some nice antiques in the home.
Laura Porter getting several food items ready to serve.
MEAL TIME
After a prayer was said blessing our food and thanking God through Jesus
Christ our Lord and Savior for another Thanksgiving, it didn't take too long
before everyone had their plate filled and the quiet time began, while
enjoying some wonderful home cooked food and fellowship.
Part pix of my bride aka Joyce Porter, Wink and Rachel Myers going some
serious damage to those wonderful vittles.....grin if you must!
Below Ann Porter, Robert Hough, Travis Huneycutt and Laura Porter in the
background.
I see deep fried turkey, deviled eggs, green beans, cornbread dressing, green bean casserole,
sweet potato soufflé, potato salad and Laura prepared some baked pork as
well. Thanksgiving would not be right without some good ole cranberry
sauce either, of which I see some of Robert Hough's plate.
A FEW PIXS BEFORE THE MEAL
I can certainly see and sense the grief from my Mom, Ann Porter over the
loss of our Pop on August 10, 2007. As I stated earlier, both of them
are now deceased and I certainly do miss both of them. Here are two
hyperlink to her most requested songs:
Pearly White City
and
I Cannot Fail The Lord

2007 THANKSGIVING COMES TO A CLOSE
We had a great time and enjoyed some good food, friendship and
fellowship. I like to express this saying at every opportunity,
"Two of the Greatest Ships that ever Sailed,
Friendship and Fellowship" and today, we had smooth sailing!
