BURLINGTON STREET CHRISTMAS BLOCK PARTY 2006
For several years our street hosted an ole timey Christmas Street Block
Party with the Porter, Hildreth and Deese family participating.
However, due to my Bride's brainstem stroke of September 2006 and our good
friend and neighbor Johnny Hildreth diagnosed with cancer, 2006 was the last
year we did the Christmas street block party. The Porter family
continues to celebrate Christmas and check the following hyperlink outs out:
Christmas 2012,
Christmas 2013,
Christmas 2014
and Christmas 2015.
While looking for a particular CD and/or DVD on October 2, 2016, I found
a DVD with pixs that were taken on December 10, 2006 and that must have been
the date of our Christmas street block party.
Our Christmas yard
decor and decor inside the home has pretty much remained the same
up until 2006 and after that we began to downsize quite a bit since my bride
was the driving force on much of the decor and helped with the outside yard
decor as well. As I have stated before, I did most of the brawn stuff
and she did the artistic and intellectual stuff....grin if you must!
We definitely still put enough outside decor up to celebrate Christmas
keeping both spiritual and secular elements in the decor.
Christ is still the reason for the season!
Much has changed since then, whereas both my Mom and Pop have passed
away; Pop on August 7, 2007 and Mom on May 1, 2011. Our wonderful
neighbor and friend
Johnny Hildreth passed away on May 25, 2009
after a three year battle with cancer and we sure do miss all of them.
Below are some of the pixs taken:
Above, Johnny Hildreth on the far left and center is Amy and Brian
Hildreth and Ms. Joyce Dennis on the far right.
Click on below thumbnail pixs for a larger screen view. Some of the
pixs have information that will be displayed on your internet browser bar as
to the identify of some of the folks:
Pix of Amy, Teresa and Pat Hildreth weathering the cold!
About ten (10) years has gone by since those pixs were taken and
time waits for no one.
I am thankful for each and every day the Lord allows and give God the
praise, honor and glory in all things through Jesus Christ our Lord and
Savior.
