PORTER'S 55TH WEDDING ANNIVERSARY
William and
Joyce Porter
celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary on January 22, 2023 and
thankful for each and every day that our Lord allows.
My future bride and myself "eloped" and were married in Chesterfield
County, SC on January 22, 1968. On the way to the Magistrate
Judge's home/office, I kept telling my bride to be, there is nothing to worry
about as I could tell she was a good bit anxious. When we arrived at the
Magistrate Judge's place of business, I depressed the door "bell" which
had a red light brightly shinning and they wanted to know who was at the
door. I said, Dua, Dua several times as I was apparently
mesmerized by the bright red light and my bride to be answered and said,
"Joyce Adcock and William Porter." My bride to this day, still
reminds me how I tried to encourage her from her anxiety, but I failed
in that area for sure..............grin if you must!
Below pix of my bride on our wedding day:
Let the girl come up for air Porter!
I invited our immediate family and Wink and Rachel Myers, however
Wink and Rachel did not attend due to the rain and didn't want to risk
getting wet and/or falling on the wheelchair ramp. I believe I
texted the wrong cell number for our oldest Daughter Laura and the text
message displayed that someone had read the text...........my bad on
that for sure!
Our youngest Grandson, Xander McKnight Gonzales was wanting Chicken
and Dumplings and I made a double batch with plenty of chicken in there.
Our meal consisted of
Chicken and Dumplings, green lima beans,
rainbow slaw, rolls and birthday cake.
Attending were: Joyce and Mickey Porter, Lisa, Xander and Lily,
Travis and Trevor Huneycutt.
FOOD PIXS TAKEN:
I didn't try to jazz the pix up with any type of garnish.
Chicken and Dumplings do not photograph that well.
I did this recipe years ago and thought I had come up with an
original recipe, but there are dozens of similar recipes on the web.
Looks like my plate needs "side planks" on it. The chicken and
dumplings were "off the chain good."

ARCHIVED PIXS
My bride aka Joyce of late, doesn't want her picture taken, but I am
going to "sneak" a few
archived pixs in anyway!
PS: Got a few extra heart beats just posting the above pix of
my bride!
Mickey and
Joyce Porter,
pix taken on January 22, 1978 our 10th wedding anniversary. Time
really goes by fast, too fast!
Above pix taken on 04-30-17 at our
Pastor Appreciation Day luncheon.
In closing, we had a great time and there is no doubt in my mind that
Joyce Adcock
was God sent to me, whereas I can still remember the first time I saw
her on August 11, 1957 as her family entered the Wadesboro Church of God
for the morning service. She had a yellow dress on, long pig tails
and dark tan from the Summer sun. She still remembers today what I
was wearing and I guess you can say, "It was
love at first sight."
