Above pix taken
on 11-24-05 at the Porter Home. The workstation/bar island gets a
workout during the Holidays! Recipes featured are mostly of the
Southern Cooking Style and substituting more healthier
ingredients such as extra virgin olive oil and Canola oil instead of
"fat back" and hog
lard when possible. However, the
taste of a buttermilk biscuit with pure hog lard baked in a wood stove
is not easily duplicated with healthier ingredients and a few consumed
every once in a while might be worth the risk! Some of the recipes
listed go beyond the borders of Southern cuisine into
International cuisine, however that Southern Anson County, NC
style of cooking still filters into the recipes! Featured are
Wild Game recipes mostly venison, however you can easily substitute
and adapt the recipes for beef.
One of my numerous food critics
stated that many of my recipes had too many ingredients, took too long
to complete and not for someone just starting out cooking. That
may well be true, however we start out as a baby drinking milk and
progress to eating meat which also has a
spiritual application. There are
many 3 ingredient cookbooks available on line and for someone that
doesn't have the time or skill to prepare nutritious and healthy meals.
If you are limited to 30 minutes in the kitchen, Rachael Ray has
cookbooks just for that purpose. I guess I am more into marinating
than micro waving.....grin if you must!

Many have asked if the Adcock Family Traditions Cookbook
circa 1997 referenced on this website is available, but it is out of
print and the original publisher no longer does cookbooks and does not
have the cookbook material archived.
Self-Portrait pix below of Bill aka Mickey Porter in the kitchen on 04-04-09 having
fun mixing up a fresh batch of
marinated
slaw. Ok, I know I am "domesticated" but get over
it. Grin if you must!
Back in 2012, our son William, Jr. upgraded his 35MM DSLR camera and I
acquired his used Canon 20D of which lasted a year before giving up the
ghost and then purchased a used Canon 30D and updating my food pixs when
I do "reruns" of some of my recipes. I have a much better
lighting
system in my basement
"Man Cave" for food photography and really
enjoying trying to learn the art of Food Styling and Food Photography,
however I will not use non-eatable products to enhance my pictures or
overkill the color saturation with Photoshop as do many food
photographers. What you see, is what you get!
