WINK & RACHEL MYERS DAY
The Wadesboro Church of God designated March 3, 2019 as Wink and Rachel
Myers Day and a catered meal was served in the fellowship hall after the
morning service.
Karen and Joel Hornback spearheaded the event with the help of the Ladies
Ministries for a surprise party to celebrate the 60th wedding
anniversary of Wink and Rachel Myers who were married on March 1, 1959 in
the Wadesboro Church of God.
I remember when the
Adcock family moved from Belmont, NC and came into the
Wadesboro Church of God sanctuary on August 11, 1957 and my bride to be,
remembers looking out into the congregation and seeing the members counting
how many was in the Adcock family, of which I believe there were around 12
total. By the way, I spotted my bride to be
Joyce Adcock age 11, who
had long pig tails, dark tanned skin and wore a yellow dress. Joyce
Adcock also spotted a skinny
little boy in the congregation with a flat
top haircut and later observed I had white buckskin shoes on, being yours truly. You
could call that Love at first sight which has culminated into 51 years of
marriage also!
After the choir, offering and special singing by Joe High, Wink and Rachel were called to the front
of the Church and had a couple chairs reserved for them in front of the
In
Remembrance Of Me communion table and thus began honoring them for their 60 years of
marriage plus their dedicated, faithful and loyal service to the Wadesboro Church of
God. A banner was shown them, of which I got a picture of later during
the service and posted below.
Both Wink and Rachel gave some touching stories from the past and Brother
Wink shed a few tears himself. Both Wink and Rachel have been an asset
and blessing to our Church and local community as well, working to further
the work of the Lord Jesus Christ in their own ministry. Rachel and
Wink have had many various duties within the Church over the decades and I
remember vividly when Rachel
taught the teenagers in our Church and knuckle heads like myself of whom I am sure
have not forgotten her passion for the Youth of our Church and teaching us
God's Holy Word.
Rachel is known in our community as "The Pie
Lady" and it would be scary to know how many fried
apple pies
she has made and sold over the years raising money for our Church projects.
Several of Rachel's sisters shared some good memories about her and Wink
and Bernice and Bobby Talent made the trip from Florida to be here for their
60th anniversary celebration.
Both are truly polished diamonds for the Lord and a friend to all in need!
It is no telling how many thousands of miles Wink has driven his personal
vehicles over the decades to get people to Church and other appointments.
Wink and Rachel live a Christian Life by example, of which all of us can
certainly emulate their example. I cannot say enough good things about
my Brother-in-Law and Sister-in-Law and proud to be a part of the Adcock/Myers family.
PRESENTATION
Karen Hornback read a poem/story and Pastor aka Bishop Sam Abee
presented a plaque to Wink and Rachel, of which I will get a close up
picture later to post here.

CONGREGATIONAL PIXS TAKEN
I gave the ole antiquated Canon 30D DSLR camera a workout and hopefully
didn't leave anyone out. Wayne Kelly said he counted 71 people present
during the morning service and others came in later to the fellowship hall.
I believe there were over 50 present in the fellowship hall to enjoy some
good food, fellowship and friendship.

MORNING SERMON
After honoring Wink and Rachel Myers, Brother Sam Abee gave his morning
sermon with the text taken from Ephesians 5:31-33 King James Version (KJV)
31 For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be
joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh.
32 This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the church.
33 Nevertheless let every one of you in particular so love his wife even as
himself; and the wife see that she reverence her husband.
Brother Abee gave the importance of marriage as instituted and sanctioned
by God and God's Holy Word, where God's Holy Word is the
only truth in this present world.
FELLOWSHIP HALL
After Brother Abee's sermon, we headed to the fellowship hall to enjoy
some good food, fellowship, friendship and continued to honor Wink and
Rachel Myers.
I told our Pastor Sam Abee, Wink and myself had only one disagreement;
that being: Wink said, "He married the prettiest Adcock girl" and I said, "I
married the prettiest Adcock girl", however we both agreed to
disagree........grin if you must!
Brother Abee blessed our food and Rachel and Wink were sent to the head
of the serving line.
CATERED FOOD PIXS
The food was catered by Welika Lake Restaurant and click on the below
thumbnail pixs for a larger screen view:
I believe there was enough Fried Chicken to feed at least 100 people.
A
couple pans of chicken were in reserve and anyone that wanted a take out
plate was welcome to do so.
VITTLE TIME
It didn't take too long after taking some pixs, that I loaded my
Styrofoam sectional plate down with groceries and could have used some side
planks to add more. The food was excellent and anyone that left
hungry, it was their own fault.
CAKE CUTTING TIME
FIRE STILL BURNING
Go Wink and Rachel!
After the cake was cut and served, Sister Abee brought out some punch.
By this time, I was "tighter than two coats of
paint", however I did mange to enjoy a slice of cake with a
cup of coffee.
I didn't take any pixs of Wink and Rachel opening their cards, etc., and
my bad on this one. I believe I was sipping a cup of hot coffee in
between bites of their 60th anniversary cake.
I personally wish Wink and Rachel Myers many more anniversaries to come
and it is a blessing to know them and be apart of the Adcock family. I appreciate all they do for our
Church; the Lord's work here on earth and living a Christian life by example
and what they do for others as well!
